Arrived quickly. Big, really beautiful book. High quality. Good short but sweet narrative, not too wordy but teaches you cool things about Irish cooking. Great recipes.I am, however, pretty butthurt that an Irish recipe book could possibly not have a pastie recipe.
Although the recipes are just the BEST = I have one major complaint !! I "also" purchased the book IRISH PUB COOKING..... NOWHERE ABSOLUTELY " no where" did they say they were the SAME book just different names ..... I feel this is just plain WRONG for someone to take advantage of customers..
What I was hoping for but too many full pages of just photos.............would like more recipes and more photos of said recipes rather than photos of green fields and such. But, overall, ok. The size is large, too.........just fits in my cupboard. A smaller book would be better.
I love this cookbook. I went to culinary school in Ireland and I really miss the old pub grub there. I loved the pictures and it was just a nice cookbook that brought back great memories. I suggest trying all of the recipes and you will get a real feel for Irish food, which is highly underrated.
Gave this as a Xmas gift to my friend who has Irish roots and she loved it! Great recipes every Irish Rose would want to prepare with slick photos and a little bit of folklore mixed in.
Very well constructed cookbook with many delicious recipes and vibrantly colored pictures in a hard-backed book. I look forward to trying most of them, however there are a few pages with some rather simple dishes that could have probably been substituted with other, more interesting and appetizing local meals. Altogether a very nice book. I got mine used, but the hard cover and sleeve were still in pretty good condition. A very nice cookbook to add to my shelf.
I very much enjoyed seeing the recipe ingredients that were what my Mom used including the various herbs that made the so delicious. Naturally, she was the best cook in the world! I will definitely now be trying some of these recipes myself. Looking forward to our planned trip to Ireland to look up relatives there, and visit the pubs.
The many photos are in beautiful, full color. The recipes however, are more contemporary than traditional and too many of them seem rather generic, rather than Irish.
