Details the discovery of the pirate ship Whydah off the coast of Cape Cod. This is a great tie-in if you have visited the Whydah Museum on Cape Cod.The book debunks many of the myths we have about pirates thanks to books and movies. For example, the whole treasure map, buried treasure thing is right out of Stevenson’s Treasure Island. It has no basis in fact. This is a very interesting book, but if you have a chance to go to the museum it’s even more fascinating.
After going to the Whydah Museum on Cape Cod,this book made clear the story ,adventure, and history involved in discovering the only recovered Pirate Ship known today! My grandfather was a lover of author Edward Rowe Snow, and this hit home for me!
Wonderfully put together biography of the Whydah, and Black Sam Bellamy, one of the great pirates of the Golden Age
Interesting but could heve more pictures.
This book captured the imagination of our 9 yr old boy - good challenging reading but not too hard.
A well done short history covering many aspects of late 17th and early 18th century life and times. Sandler has tied them all together superbly. Particularly interesting for local Cape Codders!
It was a bit of a disapointment, informative but not compelling
Very nice, in perfect condition. A fun short read.
