Diane Poole Heller is the best authority on attachment that I've found throughout years of research. She emphasizes somatic experiencing, trauma, healing and hope. She's informative for mental health professionals (me), trauma survivors (me) and people who want to heal their attachment injuries and create healthy relationships (me again!)I also recommend her audio presentation ("Healing Your Attachment Wounds," available on Amazon Audible or Sounds True.) It's great and she has such a soothing voice, which is a bonus. I feel more securely attached just listening to her! She has a lot of the same info in the audio as she does the book, but I haven't found it to be redundant. It's helpful to have two different formats.

This book was wonderfully written. The author used very understandable language and a gentleness that is hard to miss. I really appreciated that the author gave strategies for each attachment style to help one work towards a more secure attachment. I highly recommend.

The best thing about this book is the author’s gentle, reassuring tone. I’ve read other books on attachment theory that explain the attachment styles and provide relationship advice, but this is the first book that really made me feel like there is nothing wrong with those of us who have an insecure attachment style. I love how the author often writes in first person plural point of view (“When we grow up with an avoidant adaptation” or “Those of us with an ambivalent attachment style”), creating a sense of inclusion and acceptance. It makes this subject so much easier to read about.This book describes all four attachment styles: secure, avoidant, ambivalent, and the often-neglected disorganized style. The author explains that these styles are on a continuum and can be quite fluid, changing over time and within different contexts. She maintains that anyone can learn how to function more securely and enjoy a happy relationship. To that end, she provides tips and exercises for working on your own attachment issues as well as learning how to understand and get along better with people of different attachment styles. Importantly, she also provides some suggestions for when it may be best to move on from a relationship.This book was easy to understand and emphasized a hopeful message that intimate connection is everyone’s birthright. I recommend this book for anyone interested in improving their relationships, or for counselors who want to help clients with attachment issues.I was provided an unproofed ARC through NetGalley that I volunteered to review. Because I have not seen the final published version, I cannot comment on the final editing and formatting.

I bought this for our 4½ year old after being blown away by Locomotive, also written by Mr. Floca.Like Locomotive, this book takes the reader on a journey, and explains a lot along the way. Unlike Locomotive, it feels a bit more solitary and uncertain (nail biting, even -- and why shouldn't it be?). With so much build up, there's quite an emotional touchdown on the lunar surface, but unlike Locomotive, that's not the end of the story.Brush up on your space history, and cue up the Apollo videos -- this book is sure to elicit a ton of curious questions from the intended audience.

A very fine picture book for children of all ages of probably the most historic event ever in the history of the world. Published as a fitting tribute on the 40th anniversary of the event. Sadly, Neil Armstrong is no longer with us, but as time goes on, books like this help to keep his memory alive. Neil, Buzz and Michael, are three of the most courageous astronauts of the 20th century, and three of America's national treasurers, if not bonafide heroes. Children the world over should read this book for inspiration of what can be done by exceptionally trained and goal oriented people in the name of all mankind. Highly recommended!I also highly recommend two very educational DVDs covering the Apollo moon missions from the early 60s thru 1973. First, is Ron Howard's theatrical production of "Apollo 13", and second, Tom Hank's HBO mini series (12 episodes), "From the Earth to the Moon". Both are truly outstanding docudramas faithfully based on the events of those particular NASA years leading up landing six different two man crews on the Moon, Apollo 11 being the first. These are all of the Apollo astronauts own true stories, some quite tragic but most very successful, with very realistic reenactments of all the missions.

Absolutely loved it and immediately bought two more copies for my friends as gifts. I love reading this book to my 3-year-old daughter and she loves it as well. The other day I saw her playing with her Disney princesses saying "This one is Eagle, and this is Columbia..." She remembers which seat Buzz Aldrin sat in and basically has the book memorized (as little children are known to do).The book is exceptionally well written. Accessible and easy to understand for children but at the same time surprisingly detailed. The drawings are simply beautiful. I must admit I often get moved to tears just reading it, it really puts you there.My only wish is that the end of the story would be a little more detailed as well, after the landing it seems to be over in a hurry and not much is said about the way back and landing.But this is a 5-star book without hesitation, one that children and parents alike will love and enjoy.

Although it's nonfiction, this book is written like poetry. It's one of my favorites to read aloud, and kids are always mesmerized when I do. It has suspense, drama, and even some humor. The illustrations are both detailed and gorgeous. Both text and images strike a great balance between informative and beautiful. I definitely recommend it to science or history teachers and parents of budding astronauts!

This book is a stunner. It's highly dramatic, fused with tension and excitement throughout, from preparation to liftoff, landing, and finally, the return to Earth. The illustrations are spectacular. It feels as if you're right there on the journey with the astronauts. We also see people across the country holding their breath because, after all, nobody knew for sure these guys would make it. I loved the fact that Floca provides a complete but easy-to-read story, a real page turner, for all readers, but also provides additional technical detail in the afterword for those readers who want more. The writing is excellent, filled with voice, and inviting to both young readers and adults. This book is suitable for all ages, really, from four to a hundred and four. It would make an outstanding gift for anyone interested in space travel or just wanting to know more about that exciting trip to the moon. Highly recommended.

It's fun to read this aloud to pre readers. Our daughter learned to read this book at age 5 after a trip to the Johnson Space Center, and after having it read to her for months. We give it to all of her friends when we go to their birthday parties. One of her friends (just turned 9) has declared her intent to be the first woman on Mars. It's a hit with the little girl crowd.This book is absorbing and appropriate for a wide range of ages because of the carefully chosen /sonically interesting language, beautiful pictures, and more-detailed extra information inside front and back covers which appeals to older children. And parents, for that matter.

This book is a joy for both adults and children. My 5 year old son has been fascinated with space and space travel (I also highly recommend national geographic's big book for little kids on space). But before even reading it too him I found myself poring over the Apollo rocket diagrams, absolutely fascinated. I love that it's very accurate in the details. It allows for wonderful questions and discussions in our house.

At first glance, this book seems “above grade level” for my 3 and 5 year old but they both love it. It’s long, and they sit riveted to the entire story. It has become a family favorite, along with his other book Locomotive. The drawings are great. The words are poetic and even adults will enjoy reading this aloud.

Great book, a real scavenger hunt. My 12 year old son liked the other hidden Mickey book with colored pictures because it was more entertaining for him. But he's not a reader and it's hard to get him to read anything. He preferred the pictures over this book even though I personally thought this book was more fun and had more mickeys listed for you to find.

Because there is no table of contents and no hyperlinked index, it is cumbersome to flip through this book and find the section you need, making it a hindrance to using while at the park. I was hoping for the convenience of having this on my iPhone instead of carrying around a book while at Disneyland. But, because of the format, now I'll have to read each page and mark the info in my notes to reference later. What a hassle to have to flip through every page to try to find the section we need! The one good spot is that each "clue" is hyperlinked to its corresponding "hint" although it doesn't quite solve the organizational problem of using this ebook while in the park.Kindle versions of reference books should always have an easy-to-access, hyperlinked index and table of contents. When they don't, it not only makes the hard copy a much better value, it makes the kindle version almost useless.I wish I didn't purchase this book!

This was a great purchase. I have been going to Disneyland almost my whole life. Everytime I was there, I would look for all the hidden Mickey's. I found a lot, but there always seemed to be some that were missing. So I cheated, broke down and purchased the book.Best part, I saw the book at Disneyland and it was more expensive there than what I paid for on Amazon. If you are looking for a good activity book to kill time while waiting in line, this and Lots to Do in Line, is the perfect way to go. Packed full of information and fun. Great way to keep kids from becoming board.

This is such a fun book. We had one that was lost and I needed to repurchase it. It has been well used and we find something new every time we go to Disneyland. I had heard of some of the Hidden Mickeys but this book is great at pointing out and directing the reader to exactly where they are. This is a great thing for families who have been to Disney a lot and what something new and fun to add to the experience.

Fun, but some of the Hidden Mickeys are hard to find or the line passes their location too quickly to spot them.

Informative for about 5 years ago. Says it is current information but found only about 10 of the hidden mickeys based on the information in the book.

Fun to use, had a great time looking for all the "hidden Mickey's" this book says that are out there. It's very helpful and a great game when walking from attraction to attraction if you're not a "shopper" getting sucked in to all the stores selling all the same stuff as the next. This book made that much more fun to "hunt" instead of shop!!

This excellent book by Jeff Passan explores the business of pitching through several different lenses. doesn't just seem so, but research by Bill James and others backs that up.Starting with the question of why there are so many pitching injuries, Passan looks into some reasons. From his research and interviews, the primary reason seems to be velocity. Pitchers these days throw harder than ever before, and velocity does correlate with injury rates. Passan doesn’t just stop with this conclusion – he backs it up with stories about young players getting raves for hitting speeds over 95 miles an hour on the radar gun. This “need for speed” is illustrated by his writing about youth baseball tourneys, traveling teams, and the Japanese baseball culture of big workloads for pitchers, no matter the age.The popular surgical procedure of repairing the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), also known as “Tommy John surgery”, is explained in detail. The book starts off like a medical record as it describes this operation on Todd Coffey. This is the second time Coffey, a major league relief pitcher, has undergone the surgery. His rehab and struggles to get back into the major leagues is the main thrust of the book, along with a similar following of another pitcher trying to make it back after the surgery, Daniel Hudson. Their stories, not just in rehab or on the field but also the toll it takes on their families, makes for fascinating reading. .Despite all of these setbacks and questions, major league teams still spend a lot of money on top free agent pitchers. The wooing of free agent pitcher Jon Lester in the off-season of 2014-15 is chronicled, mainly from Lester’s point of view. The maneuverings of the teams in order to convince Lester to sign a contract with the team is also completing reading and one will shake his or her head to realize the lengths go to acquire top pitching talent.The book is highly recommended for all baseball fans as it will address many different issues affecting the most important position in the game and how it turned into a billion-dollar industry. Between the outstanding writing and the thorough research, this is one to add to every baseball bookshelf.

Always interesting to get behind the scenes in the rehab process. Passan takes us into the rehabs of both a near-star like Daniel Hudson but also into the process of journeyman player (Todd Coffey). All tendons are equal (and liable to failure) under the lord, regardless of star power. The weakness of the book is in how much it jumps around from interest group to interest group. Passan looks at Japan, at youth travel ball, at elite training centers, at individual players, and at MLB. It's interesting to get looks at these various centers of the game, but it prevents Passan from fully developing any single viewpoint. Does Japan -- for all its crazy emphasis on working pitchers arms -- have a better or worse arm injury rate than the United States? Passan never makes the determination. Are Perfect Game pitcher/participants any medically worse off than non-participants? Passan never makes the determination. So, the book is an interesting survey of the problem, but it doesn't make the effort to draw much in the way of useful conclusions.

Very detailed and informative book. I do not give it 5 stars for two reasons.One, the book is a collection of multiple narratives that alternate chapter by chapter. This at times creates confusion and loss of continuity when a narrative ends at the end of a chapter and, after several intervening chapters covering other narratives, the narrative continues in a new chapter, but you don't always remember where it left off several chapters earlier.Two, the author does not arrive at a conclusion as to the possible cause, or causes, of the epidemic of UCL injuries in baseball. He does cite what I consider to be the most important statistic in this field. And that statistic is this: Up until the late 1990s, of all Tommy John surgeries performed in America, precisely 0% were performed on teenagers. Today, of all Tommy John surgeries performed in America, 57% are performed on teenagers. From 0% to 57% in only 20 years. That is an alarming increase. What has changed in youth baseball in the past 20 years that can account for this astronomical increase in Tommy John surgeries among teenagers? The answer to me is obvious: the advent of year-round baseball fueled by travel tournaments and showcases.

Let's start with the positives, this book is well-reported, factual, objective and quite well-written. Passan is a fine story-teller who manages to inject his personality into the narrative but without making himself part of the story. And he tackled a question that is troubling baseball at every level, the increasing number of pitchers' arm injuries, so it was worth attempting.But I thought this book had two issues: First, it spent a great many pages outlining the depth of the issue, and its impact, in great detail, then answered it with a shrug, saying no one knows why it's happening or how to fix it. I was expecting some sort of insight and felt extremely let down. Second, given this lack of resolution, it seemed to me Passan took what could have been an excellent long-form-journalism piece - perfect for The Atlantic or The New Yorker, for example - and forced it to become a book.

I recommend this book above any other Pentest+ material I've used so far. It's full of content and most of it is pretty well explained. There are in-chapter demos that walk you through a process, such as setting up workspaces in recon-ng, using Android/iOS pentest tools, and so on. And a lot of bonus points for recommending specific products in the relevant chapters. I've seen a lot of courses in the past that might need you to purchase something to get hands on experience with it, but they don't tell you what do buy. This book pretty much lays out where you want to order lockpicks/locks from, what type of NIC will go into promiscuous mode and an average price from Amazon on it, etc. Makes getting experience and matching the book much easier.The structure of the content is well laid-out, and mostly concise. There are times that I feel like the author was being either redundant or using larger words than necessary to convey the same idea. Sometimes their logic loops, and I remember one sentence in the book being similar to, "A hash is the result of applying a cryptographic hash to a file".If you're planning to take the exam, this book is great but you'll absolutely want to find some other sources as well. The exam expects you to be able to analyze the following scripting languages: Powershell, Bash, Python, and Ruby. This book hits on those very minimally. It's somewhat understandable as each language is very different and you might need another 100-200 pages to really cover all of them well enough. But it was so short and fast-paced that I ended up just skipping that section of the book and figuring I'd learn it another way.This isn't a pro or con, but just a heads up; This book assumes you understand Bash and some basic computer functions. There isn't much time on Bash but if you're reading this book, you should already be familiar enough with Linux as it is.As long as you don't mind doing additional research on the side, this book is a very solid resource. Highly recommend.

I like how the author states up front to not only use this as a sole resource before taking the exam. No CD but oh well.

Haven’t fully read it, but kind of annoyed this one didn’t come with a CD like all the other books in the series do. I love having access to the ebook and being able to search through the ebook, but I am a huge fan of harcopies. I think this should be more of a publisher concern.

Excellent book

Very well written, informative and in logical order

I was able to take the Pentest+ Beta exam in the summer of 2018. This book covers all of the exam objectives at just the right depth, and the exercises provided are good hands-on practice. The author does well explaining the objectives in a way that make them easy to understand. I currently teach a penetration testing course and now that this book is available, will be making it the required text for my students going forward.

This book is very well written, besides very detailed and informative. It is easy to understand , and logically pulls together all the exam objectives. The book follows the normal flow of a real penetration test. Starting with pre-engagement activities and ending with reporting. There are A LOT of screenshots so it makes absorbing the information much easier. You can tell the author has some serious experience in the field. The way he explains everything is easy to follow and you're not left wondering what something meant. Excellent book, and excellent perspective.Obviously this book is suppose to be used for passing the Pentest+ exam but I'd recommend this book to anyone getting started in the pentest field. It is basically a how to guide for penetration tests.
