About the Author

Inge Auerbacher was born in Kippenheim, Germany. In 1942, at the age of seven, she was imprisoned in the Terezin concentration camp in what is now known as the Czech Republic. In 1946, she emigrated to the United States of American and has live in New York City ever since.     Inge graduated from Queens College with a B.S. degree in chemistry, and continued with post-graduate work in biochemistry. She worked for over thirty-eight years as a chemist with prominent scientists in research and clinical work.     In addition to being a chemist, world traveler, travel writer, and avid photographer, Inge is also a writer. More than fifty of her poems and numerous articles have been published. She wrote the lyrics “We Shall Never Forget,” the only original song presented at the first World Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors in Jerusalem (1981).    Since 1981, Inge has been lecturing on the Holocaust, and has spoken to thousands of people all over the world. She has also appeared on many radio and television programs, and her story is the subject of the award-winning documentary film The Olympic Doll, directed by Gloria Gerzon.      Inge Auerbacher is the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the Louis E. I do not fill out these reviews very often because of the way the system forces one to write something whether one wishes to or not. It also forces one to write a specific amount. I object to both of the forced actions and would rate things more often if I had the choice whether to write anything at all or one or two words or a paragraph. And a choice as to whether to put a heading.The book was excellent and should be available to most middle schoolers if not elementary school. It is descriptive but not graphically so. It does impart the serious and terrible crime of the Holocaust.

Here is another story that is difficult to read but A MUST read to understand the holocaust. No matter how many stories of this time that I have read, each story is different. But the underlining threats and fears are the same in each one. As difficult as it is to read about this time, it was a lot more difficult to live it and to recount it. So , I feel it is our duty to honor these people by sharing in their experiences.

This is a wonderful book that was brought to my attention by a student. It is a good read for middle school and high school kids, giving great background and the timeline of Hitler's regime. The author shares her own experiences in the Terezin camp as a small child as well as many wonderful poems she wrote. It's just the right length for a non-fiction book that could be used in a social studies, English, or reading classroom.

Beautifully written story of a young girl and her families survival in the most horrific time.

Thank you for sharing your experience Inge. There will never be too many books on the Holocaust as we all must learn to live together and this part of our world history tells us why.

I ordered this book because I was going to hear Inge speak. The book was informative and her poetry was touching. Good read.

I realize it is intended for a young audience, but when you are giving such a little bit of information about each president, I would have highlighted the most important things. Take for example the entry on John Quincy Adam's which includes the fact that he didn't win the popular vote (important), with mostly other very trivial facts, like his swimming naked in the Potomac and the rather subjective statement that "like his father before him, John Quincy Adams got on many people's nerves." Nothing about what he accomplished for the good of the country is included. I prefer Ken Burns's book Grover Cleveland Again, which is more difficult, but contains more substantial information. Also, I don't like cartoon drawings only. A real picture of each president would help kids remember faces better.

I absolutely love this book about the presidents. It has the right information that keeps my childs interest and even has me learning new stuff. There is a fun fact (or two) about every president. And the illustrations make it fun for the kids too. My kids pick this book as a bedtime book.

This says *updated* but it stops at Obama. Just a heads up to anyone looking to purchase. Other than that it’s a very kid friendly way to learn about our nations leaders

My son loves it (4 year old). The only caveat, I added some real pictures of the presidents and glued them on top of the cartoons that are showed in the book. I also learned very interesting things about the presidents.

My son has been fascinated with history, especially Abraham Lincoln. He loves weird facts and learning new things others don't. This book has bypassed his plants vs zombies, his hilo books and other comic books he's been reading. He loves it!! He is in second grade.

My son enjoyed the book but I was annoyed to see it mentioned that bill Clinton lying a out his affair. I do not want my young child knowing this information.

It is easy for him to understand the little facts associated with each president. At 8 years old he would not understand important facts like Watergate, Iraqi war, etc. He is however remembering the presidents by facts such as 'which president loved peanuts.'Good choice for elementary students, highly recommend the purchase.

We LOVE this book!!! My 6-year-old is a history buff, and this book (and the musical Hamilton) is part of the reason why! Fun, kid-friendly facts about each of the presidents and their time in office. Highly recommended!!!

Omgosh, I don't even know where to begin to express how much I adore this book! It is the absolute most riotous book EVER! I so love it and have to refrain from reading it in bed with my husband for the simple reason that I have kept him up ALL night ***cackling*** up a storm in bed when he is trying to fall asleep! So now I read it when I'm on long lines at the post office, etc, or just when I want to laugh my tuchus off, lol. It is incredible though how much you realize about yourself, your friends and especially your family when you see that their once thought eccentricities/quirks/idiosyncrasies are inherent to your yiddishkeit roots. I have purchased this book as gifts and without question, I could read this delightful and wonderfully enjoyable book over and over and OVER again and AGAIN!.....I love you, Molly Katz!!!!! I laughed until I cried on just about every page. I had planned to read this on the commuter train, but I be busting up laughing. I'm a recent convert to The Tribe, and I'm laughing at how Jewish I've been all my life. Oy. Read it and plots.

Excellent updated version of the original. Still funny as ever. Did omit, I think, some of the material from the first book that should have been retained. (I lent out, and never got back, my copy of the first edition, so I can't compare, but I seem to remember something about "lovelynotes" in the first that I haven't found in the second.)Still, definitely worth buying and reading. So you'll buy... you'll read... you'll laugh till your nauseous! LOL

This is the 6th book of this that I have purchased as gifts. I bought the first one several years ago and recently bought this updated version. Every time I read this book with friends and/or family, whether Jewish or not, we laugh! It does help if someone is NOT Jewish, to at least be an 'east-coaster' or someone who has been brought up around lots of Jews. There are so many truly hysterical parts to this wonderful book! It is timeless humor. Trust me, don't just buy one as you will most likely give it away like I did!

YIDDISH was my Second Language. I bought this bought a few months ago and have shared it with my friends. Its a fun informative book. I am now ordering another copy to gift it to a friend who is home recovering from a serious operation. It will definitely put a smile on his face.

This book is funny well written and worth worth every penny. I bought this for my mother as a gift and she loves it. I don't have much time for leisure reading any more but I have borrowed it from her and found time for it myself. I highly recommend this book!

This is book three from a six book series. This is a very short read, only about eight chapters, and it is the shortest book so far. The writing is getting better and the emotional roller coaster will suck you in and will not let you go. There are some parts that read slow and then they speed up. There are a number of twists in this section of the story that you do not see coming as easily as in the previous book. From the covers you would think that there would be a lot of sexual scenes but there are not, just kissing. Knowing that, it is a good book for a younger reader.Recommend this to a friend? Good afternoon everyone today I am reviewing book three what a girl knows. So far in the series we have Sara and Robert two collage kids falling in love. I hope you read book one and book two it'd a must to understand what is going on here in book three. This series is written in two points of views one being Sara and the other being Robert. It switches every other chapter. In book one Sara is at school to prove to her father that she can. She meets Robert in class. Robert is typical rich kid partying all night and doesn't care about school. In book one they are paired together for school project. Sara is not happy to be paired with guy who missed 6 weeks of classes. In book one while working together they get feelings for each other which is admitted at the end. Robert gets call that his dad is very ill then book ends. Now in book 2 we introduce James Robert's friend who has small crush on Sara. In book 2 starts with Sara not seeing Rob for few weeks but she's been spending a lot of time with James. She has no idea that James likes her. Rob invites Sara to go meet his dad who is dying. Robs dad makes him do this. Sara invites James to come along as she is nervous. When Sara meets Rob's dad he tells her firmly that he does not want Sara with his son. Sara is upsets and leaves back to school with James. Back at her dorm James tells Sara that he likes her and ask her out. Rob shows up and apologize to Sara but Sara is confused said she needs time. Book three what a girl knows starts off with Sara trying to decide who to choose. Will it be James or Robert? You will have to read to find out. It is good short story collection hope you enjoy as much as I do.Note: I have received this product for a free or reduced price in exchange for my honest in biased review.

Took me a little long than I anticipated to write this review but as a single mom of two it took me longer to read this book than I anticipated. Lol! I will say that I am absolutely addicted to this series! I don't want to ruin any of the plot to this book so I will keep my review pretty generic because as an avid reader myself I HATE spoilers, but I will say that this is a very well written series with perfect plot progression, it's a easy read that flows well and the characters are very well established. It's for sure my favorite romantic novel series. Very "50 shades" like which for me is amazing! The writing is done so well that your mind "sees" the story as you read it! I recieved the entire series free on my kindle in exchange for my honest review, which for kindle download it's free anyhow, but just for the sake of complete honesty I wanted to disclose that. I never allow any promotional pricing or consideration change my opinions as an online consumer myself I know that customer feedback heavily assists me in my purchases. So far this has been a fine read. I would recommend this for either right- before- bed, or on the beach, a quiet afternoon, etc. There are quite a few dynamic features to the story line. A few twists and tunes, and the characters are pretty well developed. There are a few parts that could be edited slightly better, but I do know most authors on here prefer for their readers to help them out in this aspect.It was not hard reading by any means, but it was also not an elementary level book. Be prepared for some love scenes. But honestly, sometimes they do add to the storyline, right? Of course they do!I hope to either purchase more in this series or get the author motivated to write more! Not that this was left with just a cliffhanger or anything, I have just loved how the storyline was developed, and would love to know where this could head into the future. Knowing how the characters have developed, interacted, and have grown leaves me with a lot of hope for more. I always love series/ books where there is a spin- off into a similar setting, but with acquaintances that the characters had, or will have.Overall, this is a great value and I would highly recommend it. It is a great value for the price, and it simply cannot be beat! I will be purchasing more from this author in the future, and look forward to new releases.
